Pfeiffer’s Birthday Bash w/ The Salads in Toronto! June 5th @BovineSexClub

As you may or may not know, our good friend (and drummer) Darrin Pfeiffer, has recently moved to Los Angeles.  He is coming back to Toronto for a visit for the first time since then (this June, for his birthday), and asked us if we could play a Salads show together.  We came to the realization that with a little help from our friends, we could gather a pretty damn good amount of talent to throw Pfeiffer the best f’n birthday party he could ever have. :)

We have also come to the realization that this show will likely be our only show in Toronto for the summer of 2013. :(

Check out this flyer I did for the details… We hope to see you there!

P.S. Check back here in exactly one week’s time to find out who the mystery band on the show is.  Super cool!! ;)

#ThrowbackThursday Beat the Hell out of your friends! It’s fun. Look!

We made this video in 2004 with Director Marc Ricardelli. Man, was it a fun day. Can you guess why?

#ThrowbackThursday The Salads vs. A few pole dancers

Our first club show as a band was in 1989 at a strip club in Toronto. We were 12 years old. We answered an ad in the paper to enter a talent show held at The Penthouse Tavern on Ossington. It’s still there too! If you’re as old as us you’ll remember the very first “Idol” type show on tv called “The Gong Show”. This was a take on that. Our competition this evening consisted of an old guy dancing to the Monster Mash, a dancer who took a stab at singing, a few acts I don’t remember, and the show finished with 2 strippers who danced a combo routine. Our only fans at the time were our parents who all came down to the gig, because they were our ride and because they didn’t feel all too comfortable about what we were getting ourselves into. Here’s the awesome poster from the event!

And guess what? We came in 2nd! A whopping $50 prize! Wish I could remember what we did with our fortune. The blonde Samantha Fox look alike who sang Whitney Houston took first place. We were pretty damn happy. Grant’s Dad took this picture of us back in our jam space the next day. I’m still proud of this day. It’s pinned to the wall in my studio. :)

Have a great Thursday y’all! – @ChuckDailey
